Trainor Team Award/Fort Bragg
Congratulations to Marti Morgan, who works with Fort Bragg in her position with the state’s Superfund Remediation Branch. Marti contributes regulatory expertise to the Tier I Partnering Team, which works on environmental cleanups at Fort Bragg. This year, the team’s efforts were formally recognized when Fort Bragg received the Category III Charles F. Trainor Award.

The award is named for Charles F. Trainor, who was assigned to U.S. Army Corp of Engineer’s Savannah District as a civilian civil engineer in 1929 and served with distinction for almost 40 years. Trainor retired as Chief of Engineering Division in October 1968. The Trainor Team Awards are presented in recognition of project, program, and support teams that have achieved excellence in delivering products and services to customers as well as furthering the goals of the Savannah District.

Category III, which recognizes excellence in projects, programs and processes goes to Fort Bragg’s Environmental Support Team for the Installation Restoration Program’s projects at Fort Bragg. The Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste award specifically praises work done to remedy negative environmental effects related to old solid waste management units at the base. Cleanup associated with an old underground storage tank was also recognized for its innovation and speed – the room was needed for temporary barracks so that troops could deploy without interruption. Fort Bragg Schools also received benefits from the award-winning team, which is working to clean contaminated groundwater.

Other Partnering Team members include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Ft. Bragg Public Works and the Science Applications International Corporation.
