Lead Acid Battery Disposal

As of 1991 it became illegal in North Carolina to dispose of a lead-acid battery in a landfill, incinerator or any waste-to-energy facility. Retailers of lead-acid batteries are required by law to accept batteries for recycling if a battery is purchased. Retailers are also required to post a sign which states:
