Effective October 11, 2004 the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources is directing work at petroleum underground storage tank release sites that are eligible to receive reimbursement from the North Carolina Commercial or Noncommercial State Trust Funds. 

Effective June 1, 2008  releases from Commercial USTs, that have a Risk, Rank and Abatement score of H140 and above are required to proceed with necessary clean-up activities.  Responsible parties will be notified in writing of their requirement to proceed with all necessary corrective actions. 

Effective October 9, 2006  releases from Non-commercial USTs, that have a Risk, Rank and Abatement score of H350 and above are required to proceed with necessary clean-up activities.  Responsible parties will be notified in writing of their requirement to proceed with all necessary corrective actions
